Think he might have been bending over to pick up the case of beers at the time....

What did you stop them with?

And how is the ankle Paul? Newly reinforced from a high-tech titanium spar or did they let nature do its course? I hope it's mending well anyway. Been noticing a little extra activity on the message board in the last few weeks...

Nothing from windsurfing but I did give myself a hernia stopping yachts in Croatia. Got an operation in October.

that's a coincidence, uds and i both burst a side when jamie returned from a west oz wavesailing trip. all full of beans he proceeded to catapult himself over the front of his board just after his first beachstart. very painful side splitting incident.

I also once burst my sides, watching Jamie making an ill-judged mercy dash to the toilet of the bunker house. Lets just say webbed fingers would have helped.

Are we counting 'love bites' from early wetsuits?

Either paul is pushing much harder than me, or I am invincible. injuries so far are:

numerous cut feet after close encounters with underwater rocks.

A sore leg after trying to windurf through a cramp (not recommended)

catapault related bruised ribs

and finally, I got stung in the face by a jelly fish after surfacing under one at gullane. Not sure if the sting or the fact that a man in a pink wesuit offered to piss on my face was more harrowing.

My injury shopping list reads pretty much as Hugh's, however my wierdest 'injury' is tiree related leprosy.

About a month after a trip to the isle all the skin drops of my hands. It's a slightly embarressing ailment best cured by more windsurfing.

I reckon I also lost a lot of brain cells in the bunker house.... i think

Looks like gumbi Paul is way out in the lead!

If you're not getting a real bashing on the reef every now and again you're not really pushing it hard enough.

ribs bruised from catapault
ankle bruised
fin cut in right foot - duct tape repair job
feet - foot strap blisters (on the top) & cut from glass on beach
Hands - many, many blisters
black eye from bad landing.
Buckets of salt water swallowed - multiple.

Its supposed to be a safe sport, you've not exactly been lucky...

Worst I can claim is two dislocated toes, hurt like nothing i've experenced before when they came out and went back in but sailing again the next day so easy injury.
Cm deep screw driver hole in foot. Some idiot previous owner thought hiding a screw driver in Sarahs boards foots straps pointy end up was a good idea. My tacking demo stopped very abruptly.
Could probably blame my new eardrums on windsurfing/surfing if push came to shove.
Tweaked back and bad blisters.

Jim met a guy on holiday who was pissing blood due to learning to loop to hard.

At the hospital on Friday for a fracture clinic appointment, the doctor strode up looking at my file. "seems like you were here in 2004 with a broken nose from windsurfing too', was his jovial opener. And your point is?

Got me thinking though, what my catalogue of injuries from the sport of kings has been. Here's my list, be interesting to see how it compares to everyone elses.

From the feet upwards:

Right Foot: Cut open on fin, 4 stiches,
Right Ankle: Broken Fibula, twisted ankle back falling in shallow water
Left knee: Torn medial cruciate ligament, one foot came out of staps jumping
Left Thigh: Crush injury (bruised bone?) on boom, classic catapult
Ribs: Bruised/cracked 2 or 3 times, falling on boom
Left Wrist: Unspecified limp wrist injury, caused by a crap jump
Nose: Broken, unexpectedly good forward caused me to bend my boom with my face.
Hands: Lots and lots of chaffing.

Still loving it though.
