a mediocre wind swell turned into the best waves we've had here for many a moon. perfectly shaped tubey waves at lossie rivermoutrh last night.
paul - harsh dude, it's no reprieve but at least you were injured doing something fun. most guys our age seem to accumulate injuries at five-aside or doing diy.

Usual surf gloat.
chest high and pretty clean southerly at aberdeen last night. not bad for summer surf - no gloves and even had the hood down (for the last 15mins anyway - let's not be rash)

Pease closing out. Coldingham was large (head and a half) and i must admit i was very hungover in big swell. Did not do too much, but looking at the dead birds (cormorants, fulmar, tern...unbelievable) in the water around me, i was thankful for small mercies. Shame it died so soon

Up for the dawnie and it paid off. 4-6 foot solid sets hitting aberdeen beach at 5am! Tide was a bit high for fittie but went in and paddled against the swell for an hour or so. Then went to Nigg Bay to find clean beautiful lines A-framing and peeling beautifully - gutted I'd wasted my arms on the beach. Felt like I'd betrayed Nigg by not checking there first.

Now I'm back at work - started at 0830 - got to put in another 13hour day.

If anyone is checking this today - get in the east coast!!!
